Norwegian Cruise Line announced that Norwegian Breakaway will move to New Orleans and a new homeport for winter 2018-2019.

Built in 2013, the 4,028 passenger Norwegian Breakaway will offer a total of seven, 10- and 11-day Caribbean cruises.

After a summer cruising the Baltic, Norwegian Breakaway returns to New York and will reposition to New Orleans. Norwegian Breakaway will be the largest ship to cruise out of the Big Easy.

Ports of call will include Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Georgetown, Grand Cayman; Roatan, Honduras; and Norwegian’s private island destination, Harvest Caye in Belize.

More Changes at Norwegian

Norwegian Gem will sail from New York City for the winter 2018/19 season, instead of New Orleans.

The plan behind the repositioning of the Norwegian Breakaway to New Orleans is to offer passengers another convenient departure port (yes, Amtrak goes to New Orleans) along with a newer and larger ship.

Norwegian Breakaway offers a ton of accommodation choices plus more than 25 dining options. There’s a huge aqua park with five slides and a daring ropes course. Try the zip lines and walk The Plank that extends out over the ocean.

Launched in 2013, the ship will undergo a two-week dry dock next spring, for a full refresh of public spaces, including new flooring, updated furniture, new dรฉcor and new carpeting in staterooms. Norwegian Breakaway will move to her new homeport of New Orleans on November 11, 2018 and the series of cruises to the Caribbean continues through April 7, 2019.

Then, a newly refurbished Norwegian Gem will remain in New York City for a series of cruises to the Caribbean, Canada & New England and the Bahamas & Florida.

If you are currently booked onboard Norwegian Gem from New Orleans, your reservation is protected and will be automatically moved to Norwegian Breakaway.

Norwegian Breakawayโ€™s new Caribbean itineraries from New Orleans will open for sale on October 24.
