Seattle Seahawks offensive tackle Rees Odhiambo leaves the field with an injury in the second half of an NFL football game against the Indianapolis Colts, Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, in Seattle.

Seattle Seahawks left tackle Rees Odhiambo was released from the hospital Monday after suffering a bruised sternum, but not a bruised heart as previous reports had indicated, coach Pete Carroll said.

Odhiambo suffered injury during an interception return in third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. Odhiambo lay on the field briefly following the interception and returned to the game before he was transported to a Seattle-area hospital for evaluation.

Carroll said all the team wanted to have him undergo further examination after Sunday’s game.

Odhiambo's status for this week is still to be determined, Carroll said.

Elsewhere on the Seahawks' injury front, running back Chris Carson was placed on injured reserve and will undergo ankle surgery.
