Warm, dry conditions help Ohio crops

Warm and dry conditions helped corn and soybean crops in Ohio mature this week.

According to the latest USDA Crop and Weather report, 3 percent of the corn crop has been harvested for grain, 90 percent of the corn crop is dented, and 39 percent is mature. Seventy-three percent of the corn has been harvested for silage.

Soybean harvest is 5 percent complete and 58 percent of the soybean crop is dropping leaves.

Sixty-nine percent of the fourth cutting of alfalfa hay is complete.

Topsoil moisture is 61 percent and subsoil moisture is 65 percent adequate to surplus.
