Feast At Lele Lua On Maui In Lahaina

It’s hard to say a first trip to Hawaii is complete without a visit to a Luau. Since this was Mrs. Weekly Flyer’s first trip to the Hawaiian islands, I wanted her to say her trip was complete. So I booked us a table reservation for the Feast at Lele in Lahaina. After our visit to the Garden of the Gods and Shipwrecked beach on Lanai, we headed back to the Ritz Carlton Kapalua to rest up before driving the 15 minutes back down to Lahaina for the Luau.

The Feast at Lele isn’t inexpensive. It will run adults about $115 per person and children about $85. The Luau does get good reviews, isn’t a buffet and has a great view. It features food from all over the Pacific Islands and comes with unlimited Mai Tai’s, Pina Colada, beer and wine.

Each guest is greeted with a lei and a choice of drink. We chose the classic Mai Tai and were escorted to our seat towards the back. This Luau is a little different than most others. You have a single table and are served food rather than buffet style. I have nothing against buffet’s, especially when it’s the best buffet in Vegas – Bacchanal At Caesar’s Palace, but this just felt like more our style than the communal tables and long lines at some luaus.

We were seated and enjoyed two drinks before the multiple course dinner was served.

I didn’t really take any pictures or video of the food. But If interested, the guy in the video below did. It’s a pretty good video walk through of the entire Luau including a review of the food.

The show started with an announcement and then the music and dance began to a backdrop overlooking the island we had toured that day, Lanai. Couldn’t have been a better setting for Mrs. Weekly Flyer’s first Luau.

If you don’t think Luaus are for you because you have an aversion to long lines and buffets, then the Feast at Lele may be the one for you. We enjoyed our evening show overlooking Lanai.

Have you ever been to a Luau on one of the Hawaiian Islands? Where was it, what did you think?

  1. It’s a touristy thing to do, but last year went to the Old Lahaina luau on Maui. Really was very good, and food served buffet style with communal tables. We chose it because reviews in multiple internet sites indicated it was more Hawaiian, and not Polynesian like some of the others (there were not any fire dancers in old Hawaii, for example). The show was great, although they do try to maximize the tables in forming a “U” around the stage so we had more of a side view being at the tip of the U. I liked the buffet idea because you could try different things as opposed to ordering off a menu. I would go back to Old Lahaina again, but am more inclined to want to try some other luau’s such as Feast of Lele, especially after reading this post.
