Good week for soybean export inspections
The USDA reports soybean export inspections for the week ending September 21st were more than what’s needed to meet USDA projections for the 2017/18 marketing year.
Wheat came out at 499,995 tons, up 31,291 from the week ending September 14th, but down 399,391 from the week ending September 22nd, 2016. For the 2017/18 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 9,227,604 tons, compared to 9,476,928 in 2016/17.
Corn was reported at 738,779 tons, 50,783 higher than the previous week, but 618,684 lower than this time last year. A few weeks into the current marketing year, corn inspections are 2,103,018 tons, compared to 4,288,916 a year ago.
Soybeans were pegged at 1,030,051 tons, 98,637 above the week before and 643,381 more than last year. So far this marketing year, soybean inspections are 3,068,223 tons, compared to 2,300,104 a year ago.
Sorghum inspections totaled 130,018 tons. That’s an increase of 62,566 tons on the week and 6,978 on the year. 2017/18 sorghum inspections are 248,852 tons, compared to 348,579 early in 2016/17.
