Two men died and three other people were injured in separate shootings overnight, Milwaukee police said Monday.

Anthony D. Rivers was shot just before 1 a.m. Monday after a fight with another man in the 5100 block of N. 40th St., according to a police news release.

Rivers, 34, died from his injuries. Police continue to investigate the motive and search for suspects in the slaying.

Earlier that night, Antonio R. Davis was shot about 8:20 p.m. in the 2900 block of N. 39th St.

Davis, 39, was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries. Authorities continue to investigate what led to the shooting. No arrests have been reported.

Milwaukee police also released information on two other shootings that left three people wounded.

The first was reported about 2 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of W. Meinecke Ave. A 25-year-old man was shot during "unknown circumstances" and was taken to a hospital. Police say he is expected to survive.

Then, shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday, police were called to a double shooting in the 2800 block of W. Glendale Ave.

A man, 31, and a woman, 24, both of Milwaukee, were shot and taken to a hospital where they are expected to recover from their injuries, police said. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of that shooting.

Police also released the identify of a recent homicide victim on Monday.  James L. Jamison, 28, was fatally shot Friday in the 2900 block of N. 40th St. No arrests have been reported in the case.

So far this year, Milwaukee has recorded 90 homicides, about 7% less than the 97 homicides reported at this time last year, according to police and records maintained by the Journal Sentinel. The preliminary data follows the FBI's Uniform Crime Report guidelines.
