FORT MYERS — The Oak Grove model home in Horse Creek is the newest offering by Daniel Wayne Homes Inc. at 4120 Horse Creek Blvd. on the banks of the Orange River in East Fort Myers.

The 2,681-square-foot residence, built on a lot that preserved shade trees on both sides of the home as well as the roof area, is open to the public for a limited time including these Sundays: Sept. 24 (today), Oct. 1 and Oct. 8.

The Oak Grove, like many of the models in Horse Creek, is distinguished by a charcoal gray metal roof and brick paver driveway, as well as wide front and rear porches for Old Florida-style appeal.

In addition to three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and a dedicated study, design features include: double iron entry doors; granite or quartz countertops throughout; engineered wood flooring in all rooms except bathrooms and wet areas; chiseled-edge, travertine marble on kitchen and dining room floors; wainscoting in the master bathroom; accent cypress beams in kitchen, dining room, great room, study, master bedroom and hallway; Moen fixtures throughout; rustic, black walnut plank accent wall and a granite vessel bowl sink in the powder bathroom.

Also, the walls of the conference room-like study are decked out in 110-year-old recycled barn wood, built exclusively for Horse Creek.

"In 1990, my father bought a barn in southern Indiana with recycled, antique oak planks that were constructed in 1906," said Dan Dodrill, president. "The trees that they would have been cut from took between 80 to 100 years to grow, thereby taking 200 years for the study wall in the Oak Grove to reach its ultimate purpose and reinforcing the one-of-a-kind residence’s intricate detail. In short, we are making Old Florida new, once again."

Additionally, Oak Grove’s backyard is rustic-inspired, with a no-vent fireplace and cypress-wooded ceilings on the veranda, as well as a serenity garden, outdoor grill gazebo and raised vegetable garden, all of which overlook an 80-acre, fully forested nature preserve.
