Morrison Swine Innovator Prize unveiled
The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine has unveiled a prize to honor the late Dr. Bob Morrison by encouraging the next generation of swine veterinary leaders.
The Morrison Swine Innovator Prize will consist of a monetary prize funded by sponsoring producers, as well as networking opportunities for finalists and sponsor representatives.
Dr. Perle Boyer, assistant professor in the Department of Vet Med, says an important way of honoring Dr. Morrison’s legacy is by inspiring innovative thinking and problem solving among veterinary students.
“The Morrison Swine Innovator Prize seeks to inspire and support the next generation of swine veterinary leaders, and connect them to today’s top producers and veterinary practices.”
Dr. Morrison, a professor at the University of Minnesota for 30 years and world renowned for his swine health research, was killed in a traffic accident while in the Czech Republic May second.
The Morrison Swine Innovator Prize will be open to veterinary medicine students at accredited four-year universities in the U.S. and Canada.
