With the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers battling for first place in the National League's Central Division and a hot four-game series scheduled to start Thursday at Miller Park, Amtrak has added a late-night train for Saturday night.

Advocates for Amtrak have a plan for high-speed rail throughout the East Coast.

Amtrak's Hiawatha Train 344 will pull out from downtown Milwaukee at 11:55 p.m. Saturday after the game, which was rescheduled from 6:35 p.m. to 12:05 p.m. for television.

Train 344 will stop at Mitchell International Airport at 12:05 a.m. Sunday, Sturtevant at 12:18 a.m., Glenview at 12:56 a.m. and arrive in Chicago at 1:24 a.m.

While Amtrak does not release ticket sale projections, it's likely the trains coming to Milwaukee from Chicago this week will be filled.

"There is certainly a lot of talk on both ends of that route, both teams are in the National League divisional race," Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari said.

Amtrak also announced Wednesday it's adding a Friday late-night connection between Chicago and Milwaukee starting Sept. 29. Wisconsinites heading to Chicago for sporting events, concerts, shows and other events can leave Union Station as late as 11:25 p.m. on Train 343 and arrive in Milwaukee at 12:54 a.m.

Tickets are $25 and $35.

The new schedule restores Saturday morning service from Milwaukee to Chicago on Train 330, leaving at 6:15 a.m. and arriving in Chicago at 7:57 a.m.
