Michael Tellez, an investigator with the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office, said Adriana Martinez, 23, of Oxnard, died of blunt-force injuries to the chest in the Monday afternoon crash.

It was reported about 4:35 p.m. at the intersection of West Second Street and North Ventura Road, Oxnard police said.

Traffic investigators said the crash occurred when a 79-year-old Santa Paula woman driving a Lexus south on Ventura Road attempted to make a left turn onto Second Street. While making the turn, the Lexus was struck by an Acura carrying two people, police said.

Martinez, a passenger in the Acura, was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries, authorities said.

The Santa Paula woman and the 24-year-old Oxnard man who drove the Acura were also taken to a hospital, but they were in stable condition, officials said.

It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the collision, authorities said. The crash is still under investigation.
