Albuquerque man dies in helicopter crash near Corona

An Albuquerque man died in in a helicopter crash Saturday near Corona.

About 5:14 p.m. Sept. 16,  New Mexico State Police were notified of a downed aircraft in the Corona area of northern Lincoln County. When officers arrived at the location, they discovered the remnants of a helicopter along with its sole occupant.

Robert Franklin Martin, 64, of Albuquerque, sustained fatal injuries during the crash and was pronounced dead on scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.

The National Traffic Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration have been called to the scene through normal protocols, to proceed with the investigation. No further information on this active investigation is available.
