A bright sight: Zorro the macaw takes in the sights after Hurricane Irma

Zorro, a red-and-green macaw, takes in the sights after Hurricane Irma.

Jo Ellen Bradley Jones shared these photos with us of her red-and-green macaw Zorro taking in the sights after Hurricane Irma.

The bird's bright red feathers are an unusual sight, especially when contrasted against the many downed trees in Southwest Florida after Hurricane Irma struck the area a week ago. Zorro was photographed sitting on some of the trees that had been uprooted following Irma's 140 mph winds.

Jones said she has had Zorro for 28 years. "He picks up on every my emotion. So to relieve any anxiety I stayed very calm while he was with us in the daylight of Irma." She said, "I had heard that he would sense pressure changes but we never observed any difference in his personality or demeanor before or after the storm."

Jones said she doesn't think Zorro was affected by Hurricane Irma. But she suspects he misses the air conditioning; they have been without power at her Talis Park home for one week now.

We appreciate Jones for sharing her photos of Zorro after the storm. Share your photos with us by posting them to our Facebook wall.
