Drop is a an app that allows you to link a credit or debit card and activate offers in the app to earn points on purchases with a variety of retailers that can be converted to gift cards. Doctor of credit has previously written up the way it works. The main thing to know about Drop is that you can earn a maximum of $5 in rewards weekly. However, they are out with a new promotion that may appeal to those using Plastiq payments: earn 200 points for every $100 in Plaatiq payments.

That 200 points is only good for 20 cents in gift cards, but it means that you’ll earn $2 for every $1,000 in payments. That’s certainly not enough to make you rich, but it’s low-hanging fruit to grab if you are already making any regular Plastiq payments. For more information on how Plastiq works, see our Complete guide to Plastiq credit card payments.

The Deal

  • 200 points (worth $0.20) for every $100 in Plastiq payments
  • Must activate this offer in the app before using it

Key Details

  • Expires 12/31/17
  • Points should take approximately a week to post

Bottom line

This offer isn’t enough to entice me to sign up for  Drop, but if you’re already using Drop and Plastiq, it’s an easy couple bucks here and there to stack with other Drop offers and keep you closer to the $5/week max. From what I’ve read, Drop is working much more smoothly now than it was around launch earlier this summer, so it may be worth giving it another chance if you previously had troubles.

I downloaded Drop but deleted it once I realized I have to share with them my bank logins and passwords. I don’t like sharing that info with any 3rd party, let alone a company not that well established, just for maximum $5 a week. No thanks. I’m waiting for the inevitable Drop hack story in 3 months, since hackers know what kind of data they are collecting too.

I don’t see it, is it targeted?
