I Will Have Earned 14,000 Aeroplan Miles Without Flying One Segment

It is promotions like these that remind me how much I like keeping track of the latest and greatest promotions.

Back in September of last year, a fellow travel blogger posted a link to an Aeroplan promotion where you could earn 5,000 miles just for staying at Starwood hotels. I caught the promotion just in time and signed up to earn my very first 5,000 Aeroplan miles.

SPG Aeroplan Activity

Now the same promotion is back, but this time you can earn more miles, up to 9,000 to be exactly. And you can earn them without stepping foot on an airplane. The best part, if you are already staying at a Starwood hotel, you only have to register to qualify for the extra points. No jumping through hoops or booking flights required.

How To Register

Register here for the SPG / Aeroplan 2013 promotion to earn up to 9,000 miles

Promotion Details

  • Stay at a Starwood hotel and resort between September 1 and December 15, 2013
  • Stay 5 nights – earn 5,000 bonus miles
  • Stay 7th night – earn additional 2,000 miles
  • Stay 9th night – earn additional 2,000 miles

You can see the full terms and conditions here.

Bottom Line

If you participated in the SPG / Aeroplan promotion last year, you know how fun it is to see these miles post for hotel stays you may have completed anyway. If you don’t have any Starwood stays, this promotion plus the Starwood SPG Take Two promotion may sway your decision.

  1. What can Aeroplan miles be used for? I’d never even heard of Aeroplan before yesterday. And, with the SPG points seemingly being way more valuable than the Aeroplan miles, are you sure we can earn SPG points and Aeroplan miles for the same stays? It’d be tragic to stay at SPG hotels for several days and be rewarded with Aeroplan miles instead of SPG points. Thanks for your help.

  2. Hi Guy – Yes according to T&Cs.

“Any Bonus Aeroplan Miles earned with this promotion is in addition to regular and any bonus Starwood Preferred Guest Starpoints® earnings.”

  3. I just confirmed on SPG.com through online chat rep Heidi P., who checked with a supervisor, that people can earn SPG points through the Take Two promo and Aeroplan miles through the other promo at the same time. Heidi P. says there’s no conflict because one earns SPG points and the other earns Aeroplan miles.

  4. Thanks, Weekly Flyer. Could you tell us a bit about the Aeroplan program, how we can use its miles, what partners it has, etc.? Thanks.

  5. SPG has run periodic promotions for earning both airline miles and SPG points several times over the past six years with different airline partners.

  6. Has SPG ever done similar promotions with other airline programs? HHonors always lets you double dip in miles.

  7. 14,000 miles but adding last years numbers.

Quick! Some state they earned 500k AA miles without flying one segment. Theres a new citi AA credit card out giving you 50k miles. Lol
