Police log: Woman charged with strangulation

CHAMBERSBURG - A Chambersburg woman has been charged with strangling someone during a domestic dispute, according to Chambersburg Police. 

Debra Lynn Slima, 51, was charged with one count of strangulation, one count simple assault, one count terroristic threats and one count disorderly conduct, police said.

At about midnight on Sept. 4, officers responded to a report of an incident on East King Street in which Slima allegedly physically assaulted and strangled someone to the point that they couldn't speak to tell her to get off, according to the report. Police said Slima also continued threatening the person while she was being escorted to the police cruiser.

She was taken to the Franklin County Jail.

Franklin County 

CRASH: Matthew D. Cook, 29, Fort Loudon, allegedly fled after Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg said he struck a utility pole while driving a 2002 Toyota Camry north on Findley Road at about midnight on Sept. 9. Cook was cited with traffic violations. The Toyota was towed.

TERRORISTIC THREATS: Richard John Baker, 48, Fayetteville, is accused of threatening and shoving a Fayetteville woman during an argument in Greene Township at about 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 9, according to Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg. Charges were filed through the district court.

HARASSMENT: Mary Rose Ommert, 70, Greencastle, will be cited with harassment after Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg said she struck a Greencastle man during an argument at about 2:45 p.m. on Sept. 9 in Antrim Township.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Someone spray-painted a vulgar word on a garage in Mont Alto between 8 p.m. on Aug. 10 and 9 a.m. on Aug. 11, according to Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg. Anyone with any information is asked to contact police at 717-249-5161.

DUI: An Ortanna man was arrested and taken to Chambersburg Hospital for a blood draw after Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg said he was found lying face down on a front porch in Chambersburg at about 6 p.m. on Aug. 18 with his truck parked in the driveway.  The man  collapsed after the blood draw, according to police, and was admitted for further evaluation.

HARASSMENT: Nicholas Wade Cluck, 37, Shippensburg, will be cited with harassment after Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg said he allegedly pushed a Chambersburg woman during an argument at about 9:40 p.m. on Sept. 6 in Greene Township.

ASSAULT/HARASSMENT: Mark Dewayne Brown, 59, was cited with harassment after Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg said he hit a man multiple times during a fight at about 5:40 p.m. on Sept. 6 in Antrim Township. The citation was filed through the district court.

SIMPLE ASSAULT: Anthony G. Brewer, 53, Chambersburg, was arrested after he allegedly caused facial injuries to someone during a domestic dispute on Hamilton Road on Sept. 9, according to Chambersburg Police. Brewer was taken to the Franklin County Jail.

Fulton County 

CRASH: Two drivers and their passengers were taken to the Fulton County Medical Center and Altoona Hospital after they were involved in a two-vehicle crash involving a cattle trailer carrying a cow.

At about 11:40 a.m. on Sept. 10, Kyle W. Delaplaine, 23, Three Springs, was driving a 2001 Ford F-350 south on Waterfall Road while hauling the cattle trailer, when police said he lost control. Cody L. Myers, 40, Greencastle, was driving a 2007 GMC Acadia north on Waterfall Road when it was sideswiped.

The trailer unhitched and struck the GMC. Myers was trapped in the car, but was extricated and taken to the hospital. Delaplaine was cited with traffic violations. The cow was unharmed.

Cumberland County 

CRASH: William W. Knecht, 66, Berwick, and his passenger were taken to the Carlisle Regional Medical Center after Pennsylvania State Police, Carlisle said he lost control while driving a motorcycle north on Interstate 81 at about 3:22 p.m. on Sept. 8, causing it to tip over and slide into the median.

CARRYING A FIREARM WITHOUT A LICENSE: Dennis Montgomery, 69, Bradenton, Florida, was arrested and charged after Pennsylvania State Police, Carlisle conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driving erratically on Interstate 81 at about 2:42 p.m. on Sept. 10. They found that Montgomery possessed a firearm without a license, according to the police report.

POSSESSION: Dane Stuart Barber, 53, is charged with one count felony manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, one count misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking, one count misdemeanor receiving stolen property, one count misdemeanor recklessly endangering another person, 14 counts of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts misdemeanor possession of a small amount of marijuana, after Shippensburg Police said he allegedly stole money for drugs from a terminally ill woman. 

At about 12:51 a.m. on July 31, police were called to a home in the 500 block of Westover Road after someone said Barber was allegedly smoking crack with several other people around a terminally ill woman, according to the report.  

Police said Barber had stolen about $10,000 out of the woman's bank account to "support his drug habit." In addition, it is believed that the woman was neglected and left alone under his care, the report shows.

Charges were filed through the district court.
