Last week: Service Issues (BA/UA). This week: What happened next.

I wrote last week about three service issues, and wanted to update those that were following them about the outcomes.

1. BA downgrades me on AA

Summary: I booked ATH-LHR-JFK-MIA-SFO in Business and First. An AA schedule change resulted in the JFK-MIA-SFO becoming JFK-SFO on a three class 767-200. At the gate BA instructed AA to downgrade me, although AA had already agreed to leave me in First despite it being a three class plane now.

Outcome: Two emails from BA, both missing the point and not offering anything – neither the Tier Points / Avios I lost nor involuntary downgrade compo.

Next Step: I have spelt things out fairly clearly to BA and we’ll see.

2. United crew make weird announcements / operate flight for pilots

Summary: Weird set of announcements, seat belt sign on for ages, pilots chit chatting whilst in turbulance

Outcome: 10,000 Mileage Plus Miles

3. No hot food on dinner flight / No entertainment/audio on flight advertised as having them.

Summary: First Class only told after take off that ovens in-operable, one choice of cold dinner offered

Outcome: 10,000 Mileage Plus Miles
