I’ve never been one to let the IFE systems on board drive my purchasing decisions, instead choosing to bring my own distractions on board. Our trip to Panama and Uruguay a couple weeks ago was a great example of why this approach is so important. Even on the best equipped Copa planes – their 737-800s with AVOD – the selections were so lacking that it was basically useless And yet I had arguably the most entertaining flights I’ve been on in a while, thanks to the BBC series Cabin Pressure.
The bad news is that finding the show is a bit of a chore. There is a “complete collection” available but it only includes the first three seasons (there are four in total; Season 4 is available separately). The shows are also available via Audible (Season 1, 2, 3, 4) if you just want the downloads, though getting all four seasons is a bit more expensive that way. There is also the BBC shopping page, though that mostly seems to just refer you to other places.
I’ve just finished season 4 and am starting over again from the beginning because I enjoyed it so much I highly recommend it.

I was turned onto that show by the fact that Benedict Cumberbatch — the extraordinary star of the reimagined Sherlock (PBS/BBC) and the villain in the latest Star Trek movie — was in it. A real pleasure to hear him early on.
The cast was a big draw, indeed, Tom. They really are spectacular.
Pirate Bay has the entire series available as a bittorent file = free. Didn’t know anyone still bought audio/visual content any more.
Sure, you can steal it, Paul. But as someone who produces original content on a regular basis it shouldn’t be too surprising that I frown on such behavior. I have no problem paying for content which I find useful or entertaining. In this case the unfortunate bit is how hard it is to find the content.
