Hyatt and MGM M Life Status Matching Starts Tomorrow and Chat Live with the Heads of Those Two Programs

Jeff Zidell, who runs the Hyatt Gold Passport program, posted on Milepoint:

Starting tomorrow, August 20th, you will able to opt-in to receive your matched M life Tier Level. As an M life member, you will receive exclusive benefits like room and show discounts, members-only access to award winning restaurants and much more.

Check back with us tomorrow at hyatt.com/mlife for your opportunity to opt-in for your matched M life Tier Level.

Hyatt’s new partnership with MGM M Life’s 12 Las Vegas resorts includes reciprocal elite status.

  • Hyatt Gold Passport Platinums (the status which comes with the Hyatt Visa) get mid-tier M Life Gold status.
  • Hyatt Gold Passport Diamonds get M Life Platinum, which is behind only the invite-only Noir level in MGM’s program.

As I noted last month, Hyatt’s Jeff Zidell and MGM’s Scott Voeller will be doing a live chat on Milepoint on Tuesday, August 20 and 9pm Eastern (8pm Central, 7pm Mountain, 6pm Pacific).

That’ll be your chance to ask them questions about the new partnership. I know I have several. For instance, the M Life membership year runs through September. So a Diamond matching now over to M Life presumably gets Platinum status through next September, even if their Hyatt status runs out in February? And will members have to “re-match” every year or will thy automate the process?

The M Life program is certainly different from what many loyalty programs are used to. Priority dining reservations and skipping the taxi queue come from flashing your elite card. It’s a very “Vegas-thing” which makes those of us usually preaching against ‘Do You Know Who I Am’ kind of travel feel like Frank Sinatra for just once… (And there are even cruise line benefits, too.)

Will you be matching your status between the two loyalty programs when the functionality goes live tomorrow?

Will you be joining us for the online chat?

  1. I was able to match to mlife platinum on Saturday by going up to the mlife desk in the Mandalay Bay. Showed them my Hyatt platinum status on the Hyatt website on my phone. Once I had it I realized that the benefits are pretty much worthless to me though.

  2. Any idea how this match will work if I am currently in the middle of a Hyatt Diamond challenge (which I will not achieve all the required nights to keep status)? Will they match for the length of time I have Hyatt Diamond only or do you think I can get in for a full year?

  3. Will be waiting until October and the new MLife calendar year to match my current Hyatt Diamond. I won’t be in Vegas in the immediate future so no need to rush it for me.

Highly looking forward to it, although from all I can tell the idea of room upgrades for being platinum at mlife is more miss than hit. Seems most still rely on the tip me if you want something theory.

  4. I was just in vegas and matched my hyatt platinum to Mlife gold. Didn’t get an upgrade when I checked in and it was basically worthless to me

  5. RECEIVE YOUR MATCHED HYATT GOLD PASSPORT TIER
An unexpected error has occurred while attempting to process your request. Please try again later. For assistance, please contact Hyatt Gold Passport Customer Service at 1-800-30-HYATT or your nearest Worldwide Reservation Center.

NOT a great start to this new partnership!

  6. The error message seems to be gone and it now re-directs you to MLife site where you click if you are already a member and log in. However, once that is done…it just looks like regular account information (there is no confirmation that you have completed the process and “opted-in” etc….so have no idea if that is how it works or not)….quite frustrating.

  7. Yeah, the MLife side has no registration. You just log in and nothing happens. No Teir match.

  8. Hyatt has always had the worst IT department in the history of all hotel sites. I can’t stand using it. Once again, “unexpected error”. They should really change that to “expected error”.

  9. Opted in and now shows proper tier matching status at Mlife for my Hyatt Plat (Gold mLife) and SO’s Diamond (Plat mLife)
