Momentum Brewhouse in Bonita Springs is a thriving small business on Bonita Beach Road.

At a popular brewery in Bonita Springs, it was a hot night to drink a cold one.

Momentum Brewhouse and indie rock band Wilder Sons paired up to release a new beer called Scatterbrain at a live music event last Friday.

With 86 unique beers, Momentum Brewhouse has been a favorite hangout of Southwest Florida beer lovers for nearly the last three years.

The brewery often hosts a few events a week, most including live music. But Friday's event was a sentimental nod to the relationship between Wilder Sons and Momentum.

Scatterbrain, named after Wilder Sons’ EP, is a Belgian Tripel that was designed and brewed with the band’s lead singer Brian Blount.

“We’ve been playing here for years,” said Blount. “We thought it’d be a good thing if we did something together.”

The Momentum menu includes many other beers such as a hard cider called "Original Sin," a Berliner Weisse named "The Machinist" and a calming White IPA called "Gentle Jade."

While the tasting room maintains eight core beers, they constantly rotate their crafts on tap.

Scatterbrain was described by some patrons as sweet and fruity while others even called it spicy.

Blount said he was delighted with its flavor.

“I’d like to take all the credit, but we didn’t do it by ourselves,” he said at the microphone during the band's performance.

He directed his appreciation to owner Brian Hahn and the head brewer Tom Gambino.

Behind Momentum's stainless steel brewing tanks and the sticker coated doors is the tasting room where adults enjoyed drinks, children played and dogs sniffed around.

Momentum Brewhouse offers a variety of craft beers created locally.

“We keep it family and dog-friendly in here,” said owner Hahn. He pointed out the shelf of board games and the Pac-Man machine that later attracted the attention of two little girls.

“Every beer has a story,” Hahn said.

Momentum’s best-selling beer, Pierce’s Pale, is even named after Hahn’s son.

Another way they stay family-friendly is by giving back to the community.

Hahn, and his wife, Kate, have owned the brewery for a few years, and they have already hosted a number of charity events for organizations such as Make-A-Wish and the Humane Society, he said.

Momentum gained notoriety when it was awarded gold and two bronze medals for Best Florida Beer Championship.

Blount announced the Wilder Sons' plan for a national tour in the near future.

Until then, they will keep performing. The band's next show is at Shark Tales in St. Pete’s Beach on Sept. 1, and at Whiskey Park in Naples on Sept. 3.

Momentum plans to serve Scatterbrain at the Wilder Sons Whiskey Park performance, Hahn said.
