Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor: At least two million-dollar bets placed Saturday

LAS VEGAS — A pair of million-dollar fight night bets on Floyd Mayweather was not enough to prevent a swath of late money shortening the odds on Conor McGregor to win Saturday’s “Money Fight” at T-Mobile Arena.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. walks to his corner after a round in his super welterweight boxing match against Conor McGregor.

McGregor was available at +400 little more than an hour before the bout’s scheduled start but was brought in to +350 by the MGM Grand in the moments before the fighters took their walk to the ring.

“There was late money on Conor,” Jay Rood, vice president of race and sports for MGM Resorts, said. “We saw a lot of money throughout the day on Floyd, as we thought may occur. But there were a huge number of smaller bets on Conor and that altered the price.”

Scott Ghertner, spokesman for MGM Resorts, confirmed that at least two seven-figure bets had been staked on Mayweather during Saturday.
