Body found in Kinnickinnic River Thursday morning

A man's body was found in the Kinnickinnic River in Milwaukee Thursday morning, the Milwaukee County medical examiner's office said.

The Milwaukee Fire Department said it received a call around 8 a.m. regarding a body in the water near the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's School of Freshwater Sciences building near Greenfield Ave.

Deputy Chief Aaron Lipski said the department requested the medical examiner's office to come to the scene. The incident is now being handled by the Milwaukee Police Department..

The medical examiner's office said an autopsy will be done Friday.
