Former Russian ambassador tells CNN, 'You should be ashamed'

Sergey Kislyak, the former Russian ambassador who has come under scrutiny for his contacts with members of the Trump campaign, called allegations that he was a spy "nonsense."

"You should be ashamed," Sergey Kislyak told CNN's Matthew Chance Wednesday during an on-the-street interview in Russia. "CNN is the company that keeps pointing to these allegations. It's nonsense."

Kislyak, who served as the Russian ambassador to the U.S. until this month, brushed off questions about his discussions with members of the Trump team, both in regards to sanctions and whether he talked about opening a back channel for communications between the White House and the Kremlin.

"I've said everything I wanted prior to this," Kislyak said.

Kislyak also addressed his May meeting with President Trump, during which the president reportedly disclosed highly classified information. According to Kislyak, he didn't "hear anything that would be secret."

"It was a good meeting, and we were discussing things that were important to your country and to mine," he said.

Kislyak also characterized the future of U.S.-Russian relations as "difficult."

"It's not because of us. It's because of the U.S. political dynamics," he said.
