2 in custody in connection with death of 7-week-old infant in Milwaukee

Tuesday's death of a 7-week-old girl in a home on Milwaukee's northwest side is now being investigated as a homicide, Milwaukee police said Wednesday.

The infant, identified by police as Savaiyah A. Reid, was found dead in a home in the 7800 block of W. Villard Ave. around 3 p.m., according to the release. The baby girl suffered blunt force trauma injuries to her body.

Police said two people have been arrested, a 17-year-old woman and a 37-year-old woman.

The Milwaukee Police Department said the investigation is ongoing.
