The Golden Gate High School volleyball team lost 3-0 to First Baptist at home on Monday night

Golden Gate dropped the opening set 25-21, the second 25-21 and the final 25-22.

Cassie Desir had 11 kills, two blocks and 10 digs for the Titans, while Emily Erickson finished with two kills, one block and 19 assists.

“It was a close match to start the season,” Golden Gate coach Anthony Santos said. “We were in every set, just our errors did us in, 41 total errors between attacking, serve, and serve receive. It's what did us in. You can't give more than a sets worth of points in a game and expect to come out on top. Minus the errors we controlled most of the action. It's the start of a long season. We'll be looking to rebound Thursday.”

First Baptist hosts Marco Island on Tuesday at 6 p.m.; Golden Gate is at Immokalee on Thursday at 7 p.m.

We have a lot of areas to work on but with the work ethic this team has I look forward to where this season will take us.”
