A 42-year-old Bonita Springs man has been arrested in connection with a bank robbery Monday afternoon in Bonita.

Linn Richard Thompson has been charged with the robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank at 9150 Bonita Beach Road in Bonita, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office reports Tuesday.

“The combination of quick-acting eyewitnesses, determined road deputies, and keen detective work has resulted in the arrest,” the Sheriff’s Office reports.

Thompson is accused of entering the branch location just before 1 p.m. Monday and immediately demanding cash from a teller. He did not display or imply that he had a firearm.

After receiving the cash, witnesses saw and even took photographs of the suspect fleeing the area in a blue Jeep Liberty. Deputies spotted the vehicle nearby at the Advanced Auto Parts store on U.S. 41.

The vehicle’s owner, Thompson, left the store a few minutes later and was detained by deputies for questioning. After conducting a thorough investigation, Thompson was formally charged Monday night with one count of robbery. He is being held at the Lee County Jail with no bond.
