Packers' Damarious Randall responds to questionable hit

The hit that put Green Bay Packers cornerback Damarious Randall in the NFL’s concussion protocol appears to have cost Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Bryce Treggs to the tune of a $25,000 fine.

In a since-deleted Tweet, Treggs wrote that he was being fined “25k” after making the league minimum last year.

Randall, who per NFL rules is not allowed to speak with reporters while in the concussion protocol, gave his first public statement since the hit, via a response on Twitter.

Last week, Packers cornerback coach Joe Whitt Jr. said there was no place in the game for the type of block Treggs delivered.

“Damarious did everything he was supposed to,” Whitt said. “Just thinking about that play, that’s the type of play that we want to get out of this game. We’re looking to grow the game — and I want my son to play — and make this game as safe as possible. That’s the type of play that shouldn’t be in the game.

“It shouldn’t have happened. It’s a shame that it did happen. And that’s the type of play that we want to get out of this game so this game can grow and be the great game that it always has been and will continue to be.”
