SAN FRANCISCO - The Brewers will try to take the momentum gained by winning 2 of 3 in Colorado when they open a three-game series Monday night against the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park.

The Brewers began their daunting three-city, nine-game trip out west by winning the final two games against the Rockies, with Jesús Aguilar hitting three home runs. Those victories gave the Brewers a 65-60 record, which has them two games behind Chicago in the NL Central and 2 1/2 games behind Arizona for the second wild-card position.

The Brewers are starting right-hander Zach Davies, who is 14-6 with a 4.26 ERA. With a victory against the Giants, Davies would tie Los Angeles' Clayton Kershaw for the major-league lead.

The Giants are having an unexpectedly harsh season, leaving them 26 games under .500 (50-76) entering the series. They will send right-hander Chris Stratton (1-2, 4.91) to the mound in the opener.

It is manager Craig Counsell's 47th birthday. The Brewers are 2-0 on that date since he became the skipper,
