Milwaukee coding school DevCodeCamp will launch its first evening boot camp next month.

The 24-week course beginning Sept. 28 will teach the same web development skills as the original immersive 12-week boot camp

Paul Jirovetz, head of operations for DevCodeCamp, said the evening course is designed for people who are unable to devote 12 weeks full-time to the boot camp. Jirovetz said this could be an opportunity for people who want to learn new skills without leaving their job.

Students will learn coding languages and programs such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS and SQL. The course ends with a capstone project in which students create a web application to solve a business problem.

The new boot camp for up to 10 students will run for three hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. It will start at 5:45 p.m. Jirovetz also said students are assigned two to three hours of homework each week. Tuition for the course is $11,900, the same as the 12-week one.

The school is based just south of downtown Milwaukee in Ward4, the co-working space in the Pritzlaff building.

About 100 people have graduated from DevCode Camp's immersive program. It says graduates have a 93% job placement rate within 180 days of completing the boot camp. Program alumni now work for the Milwaukee Brewers, Milwaukee Tool, Rockwell Automation and GMR Marketing, among other companies.

Most are hired as software developers. The average salary for graduates is $53,000 a year, Jirovetz said.
