DRINKWELL SEDONA PET FOUNTAIN

Petsafe sent us a Drinkwell Sedona Pet Fountain a couple of weeks ago…

DRINKWELL SEDONA PET FOUNTAIN

I must say I am quite impressed with its sleek design. The contemporary shape reminds me of a “limited edition” Waterford crystal bowl you might find on someone’s dining room credenza filled with decorative porcelain fruit. #myvividimagination

FUNCTIONALITY –

  • Deep enough to hold 100 oz water capacity, with minimal spills and splashes.
  • The fountain is whisper-quiet (which was a concern for me) no hypnotic annoying motor sound heard faintly in the background.
  • Dual filtration with an activated carbon filter that removes bad tastes and odors, while a foam filter captures the hair and debris.

TEACHING OLD DOGS NEW TRICKS –

My initial concerns revolved around Harley rejecting the whole “fountain” concept.  I set it up, then took them for an afternoon stroll. When we returned, Jaxson slurped like he had been sheep herding all day!

Harley approached with caution and watched the ole’ Doodle sheepherder intently.  It only took him a minute or two before he began to “sip from the well.”

The fountain is wide enough for the two of them to drink simultaneously from the edges of the bowl. Harley prefers to drink from the top of the ceramic tower like a water fountain!

SHARING IS CARING –

Sometime during that same week, I walked into the break room at work to get some water. My attention was drawn to the small water bowl on the floor for the Pet Therapy dogs that come in before and after their shifts…

There are presently over 45 dogs at MUSC actively participating in Pet Therapy. This bowl is just not big enough AND the water remains still and stagnate with many dogs using it.

I had a talk with Harley and Jaxson, and they both agreed…

So I did…

The Pet Handlers love it!

And the pets are getting acquainted at their own individual pace.

There’s the –

  • resistance to change approach…

  • inquisitive approach…

  • “this is fun” approach from my buddy Pete! He loved it…

This week, the Boys and I are filled to the brim with happiness!…

Looks like a real pretty fountain. We love our fountain that we have upstairs and our filtered bowls without the fountain downstairs. Just a word of caution…community bowls can spread germs like that nasty canine flu going around. Watch out for that. Most places we go no longer allow community bowls, it’s BYOW (bring your own water). Don’t want you boys to catch any germs!

BYOW – that’s so cute! The one stainless steel bowl that’s been there for over two years just had to go. I believe with all the vaccinations therapy dogs have to stay current with to work probably has kept them safe.

Hi Cathy, the bowl looks like a wonderful idea making sure there is always water available especially when there is more than one dog drinking in the home. This past weekend I was watching both my daughter’s dogs, all poodle mixes and with the warm weather I was watching the water bowls constantly. One question, how do your doodle boys drink? Both of my doodles left puddles of water wherever they drink. Constantly wiping the floor. Just wondering if there are any suggestions.

Harley is super neat. He literally sips like a dog with manners. Jaxson slurps. He makes a whole lot of noise and a mess. I use absorbent little machine washable rugs for their dishes. It seems to help catch the spillage…

I LOVE that you graciously gave this gorgeous fountain to the therapy dogs that come to work! And hell, I am SO jealous that you get to see so many puppies at work! Thanks for sharing that beautiful quote too, it’s really wonderful and so true.

Cathy, I am having the time of my life at work! Therapy dogs coming in everyday, all day. It’s a wonderful thing. When I saw the fountain – I knew instantly that it belonged at the hospital. They could really benefit from it. So far everyone (canine and handler) are pleased with it.

Quite the beautiful fountain. I sometimes wish we had a water bowl of any kind during the summer months when we park at the far end of the employee parking lot. Luckily the coffee shop is happy to provide us with a cup before we go visit patients and have access to plenty of napkins to wipe drippy chin hairs.

Monika – who don’t you contact PetSafe and see if they would donate one to you? It’s worth a try. Let me know!

How thoughtful of the boys to donate it. That’s so nice. 🙂

See, we can’t have fancy toys and gadgets like that because they boys like to PLAY in their water bowl. Anything that strays from the standard stainless steel bowl, they make such a mess like two little boys, it’s funny and frustrating at the same time. LOLL

HA! I could see your boys trying to get a little “dip-in” during these summer months.

That is a cool water fountain, my dogs would destroy it 🙁

I was waiting for Jaxson to take it out – but he only drank out of it. #whew

Pete is true to his nature. He seeks water wherever we go and this bowl is great to have out for our pet therapy dogs. Thanks for thinking of us.

You’re so welcome Pennye! Pete and ALL the MUSC Pet Therapy pups deserve the very best. I’m sure PetSafe is happy to help out. See you soon!

It seems to me that this might make community water safer and cleaner. You are so sweet to bring the fountain there. Luke loved the fountain we used to have, but it’s not convenient at the new house since a plug in is not close by to where we keep the water.
Our cat Samantha has her own though and she absolutely loves it!

Cleaner and fresher was what I was thinking also Jan. So far – it’s a big hit with dogs and handlers.
