Kenosha: Grill Games Festival. Taste and vote for your favorite barbecue at this festival Aug. 25-26 at HarborPark. See grillgames.org.

La Crosse: Great River Folk Fest. Enjoy performances from local and regional folk artists at this festival Aug. 25-27 at Riverside Park. A weekend admission pass is $45 in advance. See greatriverfolkfest.org.

North Freedom: Beer Train. Sample beers from Wisconsin breweries while enjoying a 55-minute train ride with the Mid-Continent Railway through the valley below the Baraboo bluffs on Aug. 26. Tickets are $42. See midcontinent.org.

The Mid-Continent Railway Museum in North Freedom offers fall train rides each year, drawing an estimated 1,000 people each weekend.

Superior: Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival. Cheer on dragon boat paddlers on Aug. 26 as they race across Lake Superior, then enjoy festivities on Barker's Island. See lakesuperiordragons.com.

Washington Island: Death's Door BBQ. Dig into finger-lickin'-good barbecue at this festival Aug. 25-26. There will also be arts and crafts vendors, kids games and live entertainment. See deathsdoorbbq.com.
