Something New is Coming This Fall…

I’ve missed you all during my blogging break and it feels so good to pop in here!  I cannot WAIT to get back to you all!

I want to share that my blogging break has been exactly what I’ve needed.  I have taken time to be alone with the Lord and listen to Him.  I have taken time this summer to be with my kids and listen and laugh and cry and eat and explore and soak in every precious moment and memory.   I took the kids for a week to the beach and did a little getaway with some of my friends, to rest and refuel.  I’ve read and read and read many books (I hope to share some of those with you someday soon).  I’ve cleaned out closets and threw away a lot of useless things and redecorated a few rooms as well.  And I’ve taken time to pray and try to figure out what God wants for me in my life and my ministry.

I can’t say that I really have any of figured it out – but I do have peace and some direction.

I know that many of you like to plan for the fall now, so I want to let you know that something new is coming here, in the month of October.

First, what’s not coming…

I have decided that the Blogging through the Bible Series will remain on hold through January of 2018.  So if you are looking to read a chapter a day with me, I will be back in just a few months to continue that series.

Second, what else is not coming…

For those of you who have followed me for many years, you may remember that every fall in the month of October, I run a “Making Your Home a Haven” Series.  I have ran this series for 7 years straight, but this year, we will take a break from that series.  I have something planned in place of it!

So here’s what’s new…

During my time of rest, I realized how deeply I needed to thoroughly release every worry, fear, pain, sorrow, frustration, sin and burden to the Lord.  Without releasing all the things that keep me up at night, I could not find rest.

I have learned that Resting and Releasing my burdens –is not a one time event.  It is something that daily I have to strive to do, to find peace.

Do you struggle to find rest for your soul, on the hamster wheel of life?

Do you feel like your load – your portion in life – is a bit too heavy and wonder what God is doing or why you must struggle and wrestle so much?

Do you wish you could just release it all?

Me too.

So I took those feelings to God’s Word and looked for answers and then I took those answers and how they intertwine with my life, to my keyboard and began writing.  And a 4-week Bible study was born titled:

Rest and Release

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.
Not as the world gives do I give to you.
Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
John 14:27

This Bible Study is unlike any of my other studies.

It offers a daily devotional – 5 days a week – that I’ve written inside your journal.

I will lead you to the passages in scripture that have spoken to me and share some of my thoughts, a reflection question, and space to “SOAK” the passages of scripture in, for yourself.

I will also offer a weekly practical challenge of something I do in my home that helps me rest and live blessed.  The first week will be very familiar to those who have done my other challenges – we’ll be lighting our fall candles and praying daily for peace in our homes.

I will also be posting free – weekly Bible Study resources here on the blog every Monday, a devotional on Wednesdays and a Video every Friday to go along with our Bible Study.

This study will run from October 1st – October 31st!

I really hope you will make plans to join me for this special month together.  I’ll be back in a few weeks with more details but for now…Mark your calendars!

Spread the Word!

Share this post with your friends!

I can’t wait to take this journey with you!

And one last thing, thank you to everyone who has been praying for me.  I appreciate it.   I could really use the continued prayers. Would you please continue praying for me as I lead this study?   Thank you so much.

Walk with the King,

Courtney

  1. Lovely to hear from you again – I checked your website yesterday to see if you had posted anything, obviously I was just a day too early! I have (hopefully) downloaded a sample of this study to my Kindle, will look forward to it in October.

    1. Hi Tina!

I’m so glad you are joining us! Unfortunately, Amazon decides what part of the study to send you as a sample and the sample is not very useful. It includes pages like the copyright and a small portion of the Table of Contents. It does not even include the introduction much less the devotionals or reading plan. Ugh!

      My apologies for that. 🙁

  19. I have prayed for you, watched for you, have started a blog for “positivity” in various forms including my passion – Bible Illustration and journaling (of which you were a big inspiration for), and have tried to get even closer to God and my Savior as possible while you were on your journey. Even with all of that, I have not felt as completely happy or content as I have since reading your post!!! My heart is happy for you and your children. I know how lost and empty the feeling is, and pray that you continue to find your way back until you feel whole again. Looking forward to working with you again. Much love and prayers, Michele Massoni <3

  28. Courtney,
What a beautiful gift on this Lord’s Day- to hear word from you! I have been praying for you and for your strength to gain as you lean on Our Father…
We have been your sisters here for you as well—all the way! I know a wonderful path is placed for you to follow and we all appreciate your leading us with more study. Much love, Winette in Virginia

  29. I’m so glad you’re doing this Courtney! I’m at a place right now where I need this in October just to help me stay focused. I’m a pastor’s wife and struggling to not fear about our financial situation in our church or be frustrated with the lack of attendance. So many things are worrying me right now. I’m looking forward to this and have missed your beautiful blog and studies. You always encourage me.

    1. Praying for you and your husband, Sharon, that God gives you both strength and wisdom and that He provides for your every need during this time.

  30. Hi Courtney! You are constantly brought to my thoughts and prayers. Glad you’re back!! Headed to Amazon now and can’t wait to be back in study with you and all the other women!!!

  31. This makes me SO happy!! My Mom just said the other day, “I keep checking Good Morning Girls to see if she’s posted anything new. How I wish she would come back!” Excited to be beginning yet again with you……you have brought together so many women in the Word, more than your probably even know. It hasn’t been the same without you. Praying and wishing you only the very, very best!

  32. Hi Courtney,

  38. Hello Courtney,

Thank you for this lovely message in my inbox this morning. You have been in my prayers over the last few months, and I’m delighted to hear you’ve spent some alone time with the Lord during that time. My prayers of course will continue.

And what a wonderful surprise seeing a new devotional coming soon, this is just what I need!

I’m so pleased you’re thinking ahead and but also giving yourself time rather than rushing into big projects. I think that’s so important.

  48. This is such a timely study for me. Something I have been working through the past few months. Will definitely participate.

  49. Hi,
I have been following you for a while, although I have never left any comments.
I am happy to see that you have returned and that you are finding the peace and direction that you need. I will continue to lift you and your family up in prayer as you continue to walk out Gods call on your life .

  50. Wonderful news! Your email was like a shining jewel in my inbox. Continuing to pray for you and your family.

  51. Glad to see you’re back! I will continue to pray for you, as you are often in my thoughts. Looking forward to this! I have had to learn this lesson too. But the afterwards is truly just the beginning. Thank you Courtney!

  52. Hello Courtney,
I just found you on youtube about 5 days ago and was excited because I found someone I enjoyed that was going through the books of the Bible!! Then got to where it said you were taking a break and was disappointed but told my husband that hopefully by the time I catch up with where you are in the books you would be back. THEN I see today that you are coming out with “Rest and Release” in Oct. My heart about stopped… you have know idea how I need this Bible study right now in my life. There are things going on in my life with my daughter that is really hard and you hit the nail on the head with this Bible study. God brought me to your web page for a reason. I’m ready to buy it and start now, Oct is going to be quite a wait, but I will read the Books of the Bible till then. Please pray that the Lord works on my daughter and helps her at this time in her life and that he uses me in whatever way He sees fit to help her as well.
    Thank you

  53. Courtney,
You don’t know how much I’ve missed you! I’ve always appreciated your openness and how you have allowed the Lord to use you in mighty ways. God places you on my heart to pray often. I love your sweet pictures of your kids. I feel such a connection to you from way back when I homeschooled my son. I remember feeling overwhelmed and I emailed you and you got back with me. Thank you so much! He has now since graduated from high school and my daughter will graduate this year. 🙁
The years fly by way too fast. I just hate what the enemy is doing to marriages and even godly marriages which seem to be attacked the most. My best friend is also going through a divorce and its heart breaking. It’s almost like those who serve him so faithfully are attached even more. I hate that but I guess that’s why He tells us to not grow weary in doing good. I want to encourage you to keep on holding tightly to Jesus because he will never let you go.
Much love and lots of prayers. Can’t wait to get your book!!

  54. Glory to God. Great to hear from you. I live in Namibia, Africa and we use your bible study material for our WhatsApp group Bible study. You dnt know how you have touched our lives. I am forever thankful and praise God for your gift. All shall be well in the Matchless name of Jesus. With you in Prayer….. Angie

  55. So glad to see you writing again! You’ve been in my thoughts as Im sure this season is a rough one for you. Im currently on round 3 of single motherhood (with 4 kids this time), add in work and college…CHAOS! Taking breaks are great and I take them frequently. I really hope you are finding lots of peace and making sense of the direction He wants you to go. Im currently direction seeking myself, and Im trying my best to be patient with Him as Im being guided.

  56. I was so happy to get your e-mail! I have missed your insight and encouragement – looking forward to your new study and to seeing how God will bless your ministry! You and your family will continue to be in my prayers . . .

  57. Courtney- so great to hear from you and I cannot wait for this study. I know God has a lot to teach me on this topic. I will continue to keep you and your children in my prayers.

  58. Welcome back from sabbatical darling dearest. Resting and Releasing sounds like just what I need. A beautiful courtship turned horribly sour, job loss and both parents died all of this happened within 8 months of each other. I felt like Job. I even broke out in a horrible rash, hair turned gray. I need this soooooo much Courtney. You have no idea honey. Thank you ????

  59. Courtney!
I have been praying for you and will continue to. This is a study that really resonates with and I thank you for being obedient to God in writing it.
May you feel His Presence and Provision in powerful, meaningful ways as you seek to honor Him in all things.
    Much love,
    Naomi Barringer

  60. Thank you so much Courtney. You have been sorely missed. God has indeed answered a prayer. Thank you for the new upcoming study, and thank you for leaving the archives on the WLW website. I have made good use of them. Can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!

  61. Sweet Courtney,

I will have you know that this study will most certainly help me in my new journey in life, since my husband and I will be separating soon.

Thank you for making the time to confer with the Lord and surrender it all to Him as the Holy Spirit leads you in the direction He wants you to go.

It is in Him that we find rest, release and freedom to fullfill His calling and purpose in life.

    Onward Christian Soldier!❤

    Blessings,

    Yolanda

P.S. I’ve done all the cleaning, scrubbing, purging, tossing, minimizing and simplifying that I can possibly do to start anew with a fresh biblical perspective and a clean heart!

    Thank You, Lord Jesus!

    1. Yolanda, I’m praying for you during this difficult time in your life. You give quite a testimony giving all praise to Jesus when you are hurting so badly and could easily complain. What a witness for Christ!

  62. I’m so excited that you’re back! I’m looking forward to the fall Bible study! I’ve been praying for you and will continue to!

  63. So glad to hear you’re coming back, Courtney! Still praying for you and your kids and also for your husband that God opens his eyes and grants him repentance. Looking forward to October!

In the meantime, I will continue to pray and spend time in His Word.. ps, good to see you back again!!! And thank you for the study!!!

  65. SO very glad you’re back!! The new study and format looks awesome. All your studies and blog posts have a way of being easy to understand yet thought provoking and life changing all at the same time. 66. I believe God laid it on my heart to check your blog today (I hadn’t been on for 4 months). And to my surprise you had posted. I have been following you for several years and have your awesome book. I’m so glad you are back and it sounds like you got a much deserved break. So good to see your wonderful spirit again! Thank you.

  67. I’ve felt a little lost without my daily Bible study. Something about this method has really helped me stick with it and I was in the Word daily until things went on hiatus. I love love love the one chapter a day straight through the book format and just haven’t found a replacement. So excited to hear that you’ve had time to rest and will be back soon! And I’m looking forward to this new topical study in October as well.

  68. Courtney,

So glad you are back and glad for you for much needed refresh. Looking forward to learning more in this study. God has used you to bless so many.

  69. Soooooo glad you’re back Courtney
Thanks to God for you’re refreshments, perseverance and eenewed strenght
    Looking forward to october
    Be blessed

  70. Yes, so excited and looking forward to what God has in store for all of us!! Exactly what I need. I love you and am praying for you sister. God will see you through it all.

    Blessings,
    Adrienne R

  71. I’m so happy to hear this, Courtney!! I just wrote a note to you a few days before this was posted, about how much I miss you! I did another Bible study, but it just wasn’t the same without you.

I think that starting out with just one month, and then getting into the full-time blogging in January, is a great idea.

Thank you for being willing to come back and share yourself with us again.

  72. Hi Courtney. I am excited to know more regarding this study. I was wondering if it was in a similar layout to the Ecclesiastes study? A group of girls from work and I completed that study and loved everything about it. Is the book similar to it to where we could do a small group study? Or is this more of an individual study?
    Thank you!

    1. Hi Krysti,

This Bible Study is not like the Ecclesiastes one – but it IS a study that you could do as a group. There are daily reflection questions that you could use for a group discussion and the challenges would be really fun to encourage each other to do each week. So – yes – this would be good for a small group to do together. 🙂

      Love,
      Courtney 🙂

  73. Hi Courtney
I’m so glad that you are doing this Bible study. I am in need of some rest right now. I’m in the hospital currently because my water broke on last Tuesday.
I have to stay in the hospital until I deliver. I’m only 26 weeks pregnant so I am on bed rest until mid October. If I haven’t gone into labor by 34 weeks pregnant the doctor will induce labor. Please pray for me, my husband Clarence and our first baby. I’m having a boy. His name is James Clarence Jones.

    Thanks so much
    LaShana Jones
    Kalamazoo, MI

    1. Hi LaShana,

Congratulations on your pregnancy! How exciting!

I just wanted you to know that I am saying a prayer for you and your baby today. Stay strong and take care of yourself!

      Lots of Love,
      Courtney

  74. I’m so happy to hear from you Courtney once again! I have been praying for you and your family as my heart was broken for you all. I love your new Bible study already and I’ve ordered mine! I look forward to studying with you once again and you are still in my prayers. I’m in Georgia and someday maybe you will be at a women’ s retreat that I and some friends would be able to attend and be able to meet you. I’m still walking with the King as I know you are! ????

  75. Do we need to have the journal to do the study? Or will the readings and challenges be posted daily like the reason through the Bible?

    1. Hi Samantha,

This journal is different. It has daily devotions that I’ve written, inside the journal. So I recommend that you get the journal -but if you are not able to – just grab your Bible and I will post the Bible Reading plan here for you to join us and follow along. 😉

      Love,
      Courtney

  76. Hi Courtney,
I am sorry to hear of your heartache, but So thankful to read of your faith, relationship with our Savior and your strong example of turning to Him in hard times. I haven’t been here for a while, and remembered your blog name today, so I had to check in. I also was a wife, full-time homemaker and homeshcooling mom; and I too Loved it!! However, my husband chose a different path that led him away from us. It broke my heart and I tried so hard to make it work and find a way to bring his heart back to our family. After several years of struggling, trying, praying and realizing the pain that my children were living through, I had to choose to separate and ultimately file for a divorce, after nearly 25 years. We have 8 children, an angel daughter in heaven, a son-in-law, 2 daughters-in-law and 7 grandchildren. It has been a hard few years and I am still so sad that the life I thought we were building together was one sided, or at least became that way. I know that my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ, walk with me. I know that They understand my sorrow, but they also know my heart and want me to stay close to Them. So that is what I am doing and I often reflect on Many of your past posts that I once followed regularly. Remembering your strength and faith has given me courage along this journey. I returned to school full-time and have 4 semesters left. I hope that in my small way, I am a light to the people around me as I do my best to stay strong and be faithful and follow your wonderful example. I know we don’t know each other personally, and likely we never will meet in person, but I have been a fairly consistent follower since your beginning (and I loved the bubble bath image, it made me think that as a Mom, I needed to take care of myself so I could take care of my family) I love you and am So Thankful for who you are, what you do and your consistent example of being a Righteous Woman of God. Thank you with All my Heart!!!
    Love,
    Shelly (in Utah)

  77. Dear Courtney,
It’s nice to hear from you again. I’m doing the Ecclesiastes Bible Study now, so you are always on my heart. I’m really looking forward to you new Bible study. Greetings from Germany
    Bettina

  78. Courtney, so happy to hear you will be back. Glad you have taken the time you need to tend your fields and also to rest. God built rest into our rhythms. It is healing mentally, spiritually and physcially…..but it’s sometimes hard to be still to get that needed deep rest. Sounds like you’ve found some keys. Cannot wait for the study. Continued prayers for you and your family. God is good, all the time…..but His timing is sometimes so different than ours. I had to learn that a few years ago myself, so speak from love and experience.. Hugs, Paige

  79. Dear Coutney, You have made my day! I am looking forward to your new Bible study and thank you for sharing your experiences with us. Thank you for not pretending to be perfect and that everything in your life is perfect. Woman around the world have found new hope in God through you. Thank you for being an obedient servant to God. You are a remarkable woman and God is smiling down on you.

  80. Yay!! You are back!. I have been praying for you and your family. I am glad to hear that you have taken time to heal and I am eagerly awaiting the next study.

  81. I am so excited for fall this year (not typically my response here in WI!)
And in reading this post, I have another thing to look forward to -studying with you again!! I LOVE your insights and your faith!
I also just looked back into all your posts from Making Your Home A Haven and am realizing how long I’ve been following you!! When I started reading your blog, my kids were so tiny and it was hard to get all three packed up and out of the house, and so God led me to you and your blog!! You’ve kept me company for alot of naptimes and “room times” 🙂 … and Octobers. I am so glad to have you back 🙂
