Biggest DirecTV Signup Bonus Ever: 30,000 United Miles

Earning 25,000 American miles has been quite common over the past couple of years. They’ve offered 25,000 Priority Club points in the past, as well.

But I’ve never seen a bigger signup bonus for DirecTV than 30,000 United miles.

The offer is valid on the ‘Entertainment’ package which starts at $29.99 per month (plus taxes) and requires a two year agreement. Still, at 30,000 miles buying this service gets you miles for not more than the cost of buying the miles outright, and you get DirecTV to boot.

This is most ideal of course if you’re actually up for new TV service. Miles post in 6-8 weeks, and oddly enough (state laws can be so weird) no credit card is required in Massachusetts or Pennsylvania. One could presumably sign up, and still cancel service after obtaining the miles by paying out the remainder of the contract for $20 per month.

  1. The T&Cs say that you can’t get the offer if you’ve been a DirecTV customer within the last 24 months. You have any sense about how strict they are about this?

  2. $20 per month X 24 months = $480, plus the months that you used the service at $29 a month (lowest plan)

makes the miles ok but nothing amazing – if you are doing it exclusively for the miles.

  3. I don’t see any info about United miles when I click the link. How do you get proof of the offer?

  4. the trick is to order installation date for september or october, account is created, mile is posted and then you call to cancel the september’s installation date.

  5. You get 25k but to get the other 5k you have to be a mileage plus card member according to my email offer on this today.

  6. Why is easy things so difficult for you?
    Life sucks?
It only takes 2 phone calls for 5 to 10 mins.
I can make 100 calls in one hour.

  7. @jim — These things are never as simple as they appear. I have enough crap to keep track of, and BTW, life over here is GREAT!

  8. @jim — Oh, and you left out the part about spending $480. That’s exactly the value I place on 30k UA miles, so any time I spend on this deal is a loss.

  9. I did the AA 25,000 miles early in the year. Posted real quick. Helped me get to Singapore First Class.

  10. @Jim are you sure that will work? How do you respond when they ask why you want it installed months down the road

  11. Your link is directed to a 25,000 offer. Where is the link for the 30,000 offer? Also, if canceling the subscription after two year commitment, are there any exit fees or equipment return fees?

  12. Hi Gary, saw you at WDS this year and last…great work!

BTW…wondering if DirecTV qualifies as “cable TV”? If so, one could add 2400 UR points to the value of this promo if paying with a Chase Ink Bold card which pays 5X points on cable TV spend.

  13. we signed up for this 6 August 13 an still haven’t received miles points so disappointing no one can answer as to why ???

  14. The $29.95 per month is only for the fist 12 months, then it reverts to $54.99 a month for the last 12 months.

  15. Signed up in August, no miles given. Call united they tell you to call Directv, Call Directv they tell you to call united. Scam. Will never use either of these companies again!

  16. Called United they tell you to call DirecTv, Called DirecTv they tell you to call United. Been a customer with DirecTv since 2001 and use mileage plus credit card to auto pay monthly. They keep sending me earn 30,000 bonus miles when you upgrade with DirecTv. We have upgraded as much as possible. No where does it say new customer. Stop sending me promos if you don’t know I am already your upgraded customer. No miles ever received

  17. After I originally left a comment I appear to have clicked on the
-Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and from now on whenever a comment is added I receive
four emails with the exact same comment. There has to be a way you can remove me from that service?
    Appreciate it!
