ALAMO AS A HORSE MARKET

Introduction of Purebred Will Result In Better Bred Horses

$4000 STALLION OWNED IN ALAMOGORDO

The horse men of the Alamogordo valley have come to a realization of the fact that there is more money in well bred horses than in raising (broncos?), so they have formed a stock company in Alamogordo and purchased a magnificent percheron stallion, paying $4000 for the animal.

The stallion is "Jasper, No. 46,328" bred and formerly owned by A.J. Dodson, of Normal, Ill., the sale to the local syndicate having been effected by C.S. Thomas of Oklahoma City.

"Jasper" is a black percheron stallion, two years old, sixteen and a half hands high, weight 1830 pounds. The sire of Jasper was Boulivet, bred through Marathon, Cocoa and Brilliant, four of the greatest sires in equine history. Three of Jasper's ancestors within six generations were purchased by the French government after having been previously sold to Americans for $100,000, $125,000 and $150,00 each, the French government wanting the strain for use as cavalry stock for the army. The dams of Jasper trace back through twenty-two generations without showing one drop of cold blood.

The local syndicate that purchased Jasper is composed of leading buisness men, ranchers and horsemen, the officers of the association being: W.R. Eidson, President; T.A. Hilburn, Sect; W.K. Staleup, Tres.

This magnificent stallion will be quartered at J.N. McFate's livery stable in Alamogordo, to whom all inquiries should be addressed.
