Without mentioning his name, House Speaker Paul Ryan took issue Tuesday with President Donald Trump's most recent comments on the violence that erupted in Charlottesville, Va.

Meanwhile, U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Milwaukee) went even further, calling on Republicans and Democrats to join together to remove Trump.

U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan.

Ryan tweeted: "We must be clear. White supremacy is repulsive. This bigotry is counter to all this country stands for. There can be no moral ambiguity."

In a press release that Moore tweeted out, she said: "My Republican friends, I implore you to work with us within our capacity as elected officials to remove this man as our commander-in-chief and help us move forward from this dark period in our nation’s history.”

During a news conference, Trump defended himself against critics who claimed he waited too long to condemn neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups for Saturday's clashes in Virginia.
