If you look for a plane which has the best chance of an upgrade or offers internationally configured flat-bed seats then the New York to Atlanta route is one of many to consider.
Delta used to operate a 767 with the old recliner seats on this route (see review here), but some time ago they changed to their new flat-bed Business Elite seats on a daily basis (see review here).
Delta had operated this flight in the evenings as the last flight of the day. It was a great way to wrap up a week by flying back to Atlanta from New York in style. But the flight time operated by this plane has changed.
Flat-Bed Timing Change On New York To Atlanta
Delta has moved up this flight to mid afternoon / early evening as opposed to the last flight of the day. The flight with flat-bed Business Elite seats will now depart JFK at 4:20 PM EST and arrive into Atlanta at 7:02 PM EST.
The 767 has seating in a 1-2-1 configuration up front. My favorite seat in 1 D. What’s yours?
Bottom Line
Delta operates a number of planes on different routes with internationally configured flat-bed seats. The JFK to ATL route is just one route which you can fly Delta’s new Business Elite seats on board one of their Boeing 767 planes. My last route, which I’ll share in an upcoming trip report, was the internationally configured Delta 777 operated between Atlanta and Los Angeles.

Very cool! Will have to give it a try sometime. I had a lie flat 777 from ATL – DTW (or was it vice versa?) Pretty sure it is the mid-morning flight.
These international configuration planes don’t have wifi. A bit of a tradeoff for the flat bed seats, especially on a long transcon flight.
