Survey seeks producer opinions about crop insurance

A group that promotes sustainable living and farming practices wants to know what farmers and ranchers think about crop insurance programs.

The National Center for Appropriate Technology has launched an online survey to gauge the attitudes farmers have about crop insurance so they can make recommendations to the USDA.

The center hopes to learn why specialty and organic crop producers don’t fully utilize crop insurance opportunities.

The survey asks several questions, including if producers are likely to buy crop insurance, and how motivated they are to learn about new options. It is open to all U.S. farmers and ranchers, and participants can remain anonymous.  The survey is funded by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture and the USDA.
