Promotion towards elite levels with Virgin Atlantic requires the securing of Tier Points. The new relationship with Delta offers some interesting options.
Unlike the tie-up with Singapore, you have to travel over 3,000 miles with Delta, on a single flight, to earn the enhanced Tier Points.

Well, there are all the long-haul flights to Asia from the USA. Or South America. Or Africa.
They put the limit at 3,000 to exclude domestic US transcons from the premium earning rates. Not too surprising, really.
