Ice Cube pressures LaVar Ball to show up to challenge

Andrew Joseph

Back in May, Ice Cube challenged LaVar Ball to a 4-point shot contest, adding that if Ball could make a 30-foot shot he'd buy 10 pairs of the $495 ZO2 sneakers.

Ball responded to the challenge with a Twitter video, and said he'd accept if Ice Cube bought his entire AAU team the ZO2 sneakers if LaVar were to win. He also certainly missed the jumper in the video.

Well, Ice Cube did not forget about the challenge.

Ice Cube posted a video to Instagram on Wednesday ahead of the BIG3's event in Los Angeles on Sunday. He invited LaVar to bring his sons and AAU team to Staples Center, so they could do the competition in front of a crowd. He also agreed to buy the ZO2 sneakers.

Now, will Ball stand by his talk and actually show up?

He's been outspoken about his basketball talents, saying repeatedly that he'd beat Michael Jordan in one-on-one. But there really isn't much footage of LaVar actually playing basketball aside from some curiously edited pickup games. The pressure would be on LaVar if he showed up to Staples Center, but LaVar hasn't been one to back away from a marketing opportunity.

We'll have to see if he actually takes Ice Cube up on that invite come Sunday.
