Kirk Cousins kept quoting 'Talladega Nights' with Dale Jr.

RICHMOND, Va. - Kirk Cousins had a "When in Rome…" kind of attitude Tuesday while at Richmond Raceway.

He and some Washington Redskins teammates were getting a 120-mile per hour ride around the track in the car with Dale Earnhardt Jr. - who happens to be a diehard Redskins fan - and couldn't seem to stop dropping Talladega Nights quotes.

"I love that movie, and it just seemed fitting wearing a fire suit out at Richmond Raceway with Dale Earnhardt Jr.," Cousins said after his few laps around the track. "How can you not quote it?"

Although Cousins rattled off more than 20 lines from the NASCAR movie - which Earnhardt actually had a cameo in - he certainly wasn't alone in showing unbridled enthusiasm for Will Ferrell's Ricky Bobby character. Redskins linebackers Will Compton and Ryan Kerrigan had some fun with it too. "Shake and bake" was their go-to line of the day.

Cousins also talked about how he was resisting every urge to imitate Ricky Bobby and rip off his fire suit and run around the track yelling, "Help me, Tom Cruise!"

"There's still time, I may have to do that," Cousins joked.

The Redskins quarterback compared his test drive with Earnhardt in a Camaro to his conversion van, laughing off the fact that it starts shaking when it hits 80 miles per hour. And although there's no cougar in it, he said "the cougar is the fear, and you've gotta embrace your fear."

Cousins said his time in the passenger seat with Earnhardt "absolutely" made him want to drive fast himself, although in a car that can safely do that.

"I do wanna go fast just like Ricky Bobby," he said. "I don't know, one more franchise tag and I may go have to buy some American made sports car and get going fast."
