Shey Feherty, a resident of Dallas, died on Saturday, according to his obituary on Legacy.com. A service was planned for Tuesday.

David Feherty has been open about his struggles with sobriety. He told Rolling Stone in 2015 that “a typical day was 30-40 Vicodin and two and a half bottles of whiskey.” He also admitted to using cocaine.

He credited his wife, Caroline, and golfing legend Tom Watson for helping him through his struggles with chemical dependency.

Shey Feherty’s friends took to Facebook to pay tribute to their friend. Caroline Feherty told a friend to print out a photo he had posted of himself and Shey to bring to the memorial.
