Timberwolves owner on Andrew Wiggins: 'He likes it here, we like him'

It appears that the Minnesota Timberwolves are on the same page with Andrew Wiggins on his worth to the team.

T'Wolves owner Glen Taylor said that the team is working on a five-year, max deal for the young star forward, according to a report by the Star Tribune.

“First of all, I think he likes it here, we like him, he can get the very best contract from me, better than he can get from anyone else,” Taylor said. “I don’t think we have any trouble of offering him the max anyway.”

Wiggins, who averaged 23.6 points, four rebounds and 2.3 assists last season, told Sports Illustrated last week that he's worth "nothing less" than the maximum deal, which could reach $148 million over five years.

Rumors have been swirling around the league that Wiggins could be a player possibly traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Kyrie Irving. But Taylor reiterated to the Star Tribune that the team is looking to keep Wiggins around.

“We are talking to his agent right now about extending him out another five years, so we can do that,” Taylor said.

Earlier this month, Timberwolves coach and president of basketball operations Tom Thibodeau said that the team is "working on" an extension for Wiggins.
