500 Free Lufthansa Miles & More Miles

With lots of folks taking advantage of the 50,000 point signup bonus for the Lufthansa Premier Miles & More World MasterCard® from Barclays (20,000 after first purchase and 30,000 more after $5000 spend within 90 days), there’s a heightened interest in Miles & More miles.

Free Frequent Flyer Miles flags an offer of 500 miles for signing up for their newsletter.

The Italian blog Frequent Flyer Italia says you can earn 500 Miles and More miles (Lufthansa et al) for signing up for its newsletter. Use Google Translate to read the blog in your language. It works very well in English. You need a PIN for your account before you can get this bonus, and apparently you need at least one mile in your account to get a PIN. Please tell me whether or not you received the miles if you live outside of Italy.

500 miles miles is about 1.5% of a free first class domestic ticket on United, which isn’t bad for free.

  1. @Gary. If you signed up for a new Miles & More account and keep the default check-ed option for newsletter etc you would earn 500 miles after the new account is created. (This is not mentioned anywhere while signing up for Lufthansa Miles and More). (Tip: MileValue)

  2. I signed up for a M&M account in January 2011 when I first started collecting miles.. it promised 2000 miles for joining (apparently I missed the part that said you’d get the 2k after earning your mile earning activity, so I never got em). Then in May of 2011 there was a promotion offering 500 miles for signing up for the newsletter, and another identical one that was 1000 miles instead of 500.. tried em both. To date, I have received 0 miles in my Miles and More acct.

  3. oh.. just looked at the T&C on this promo.

“Members with a temporary paper card will have their miles credited as soon as they have earned one award mile.”

Must’ve been there 2 years ago too. Oh well..

  4. ‘You need a PIN for your account before you can get this bonus, and apparently you need at least one mile in your account to get a PIN.’

As others have chimed in, we do need that seed mile to get the bounty of 500 or 50,000 miles or whatever. So do we have a benevolent reader of this blog who is a status’ed member of the starwood program and is willing to transfer a starwood point into my miles and more account? If so, how should I communicate my account no. to the donor? Is the ‘earned an award mile’ really an earned mile, as in earned through travel or earned through a purchase from the Lufthansa portal purchase, or would a donated mile count as an ‘earned mile’ for this promotion? I can never assume anything with these attorneys using their code language.

  5. Once your account is activated (ie any movement at all), you will get an email from M&M reminding you that you can get 500 miles if you opt in for the newsletter. If you opted in already during signup, you can hope for a credit.. :p

  6. I tried several times to register on site for free miles on the Lufthansa site. Without success. I made use of Lufthansa last year and this year again. Somehow it is very difficult to register for free miles.
Feel very unhappy about the web page.
