EMILY's List is going after House Speaker Paul Ryan of Janesville.

The national group that backs female Democratic candidates who support abortion rights said Thursday that Ryan and 49 other Republicans are being put "On Notice" as top targets in the 2018 midterms.

House Speaker Paul Ryan of Janesville.

“Rep. Paul Ryan has failed to protect the people of Wisconsin he was elected to represent — and EMILY’s List and our five million-strong community are aggressively looking to flip his seat," Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILY's List, said in a statement.

"He has abandoned his district to prop up the agenda of a Republican Party hell-bent on rolling back the clock on women’s rights and the livelihoods of American families. He has refused to hold town halls and listen to the justified concerns of Wisconsin voters  — choosing instead to spend his time at cushy Washington fundraisers," Schrock said.

Randy Bryce, an iron worker from Caledonia, and Cathy Myers, a former teacher and current Janesville School Board member, are running for the Democratic nomination to take on Ryan. EMILY's List has not made an endorsement in the Democratic race.
