Sam Dekker is having an eventful NBA off-season.

First, the former University of Wisconsin star announced his engagement in late May to ESPN reporter Olivia Harlan, who also boasts some state ties. She is the daughter of veteran broadcaster Kevin Harlan and grandaughter of former Green Bay Packers CEO Bob Harlan.

Then in late June, Dekker was sent to the Los Angeles Clippers as part of a mega-trade that landed superstar point guard Chris Paul with the Houston Rockets.

Former University of Wisconsin star Sam Dekker, now playing for the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA, recently became engaged to ESPN reporter Olivia Harlan.

On Friday, Dekker, 23, will have his jersey retired at Sheboygan Lutheran High School. Sheboygan Mayor Mike Vandersteen has also decreed it "Sam Dekker Day."

Dekker scored 2,629 points points at Sheboygan Lutheran, fourth on the state's all-time list. He was named the 2011-'12 Gatorade Wisconsin Boys Basketball Player of the Year and won the state's Mr. Basketball award that season.

Dekker capped his stellar prep career with 40 points in the 2012 WIAA Division 5 title game against Racine Lutheran. His three-pointer with 6 seconds left gave Sheboygan Lutheran a 67-66 victory and cemented Dekker's place in state tournament lore.

Dekker came to UW as one of then-coach Bo Ryan's most-celebrated recruits and started 81 games and appeared in 113 for the Badgers over three seasons. He finished with 1,363 points and helped UW reach back-to-back Final Fours. He was the 18th overall pick by the Rockets in the 2015 NBA draft.

The ceremony at Sheboygan Lutheran will begin at 4 p.m. outside the school. Todd Dekker, Sam's father and former coach at the school, and Kevin Harlan will be among the speakers.

There also will be a banner unveiled later in the evening inside the gymnasium that will require a ticket. The school can be reached at (920) 452-3323 for more information.

Olivia Harlan also will be in the house.
