Southwest Florida golf column: Area teams compete at FSGA Parent-Child Championship

Naples' Michael and Gus Vickers finished fifth in the FSGA Parent-Child Championship at Walt Disney World, Grand Cypress and Tranquilo resorts in Lake Buena Vista on
Saturday and Sunday.

The Vickerses, competing in the division with a child age 15 or younger, shot 68-69/137. David and Noah Kent of Estero were 10th, shooting 70-71/141.

Ron and Tyler Stamerro tied for 13th overall in the division, shooting 76-69/145, but won First Flight (teams were flighted after the first round) with their 69.

Kim Keyer-Scott and Wesley Morgan of Bonita Springs tied for 15th overall, shooting 74-72/146. Will and John Harley of Estero shot 82-82/164, and Edward and Zachary Ciofani of Fort Myers shot 76-89/165.

In the division with a child ages 16-21, Naples' Bob and A.J. Radunz tied for eighth,
shooting 73-68/141. David and Austin Witt of Naples shot 74-73/147 and Michael and
Mike Chesnover of Fort Myers shot 71-76/147. Jennie and Christian Taylor of Naples
shot 77-78/155.

In the division with a child ages 22-31, Giles Meyer III of Lehigh Acres and Brandon
Meyer of Gainesville were eighth, shooting 70-71/141. Jeff Tunnell of Bonita Springs
and Scott Tunnell of Sanford shot 71-79/150, and John Venegoni of Estero and David
Venegoni of McKinney, Texas, shot 75-81/156.

Kastania Toomalatai of Fort Myers and Tipo Toomalatai shot 78-76/154.

In the division with a child 32 or older, Gary Saft of Fort Myers and Andrew Saft of
Atlanta were seventh, shooting 70-69/139. Jason Camp of Naples and Gerald Camp of
Pembroke Pines tied for 16th, shooting 78-72/150.

Kevin and Griffin Henry of Estero finished third in the 9-hole division with a child ages 10-12. They had 53 Stableford points.

Mark and Sean Adamczyk of Naples and Tony and Morgan Franklin of Fort Myers tied for fourth with 51 points. Scott and Patrick Riley of Fort Myers had 38 points.
 

Southwest Florida golf column: FGCU's Dalton wins SFPGA PGM scholarship

QBE Shootout Summer Series: The series had its third of six events at The Rookery on Saturday.

Scott Blackburn and Abbie Valentine shot a 65 to win the Gross Division. Jake Bierly and Robert Furlong won the Net with a 58. Pat Cassidy and Drew Isaac had a 68 to finish second in the Gross Division, and Bobby Pitts and John Shaffer were third with a 69. Jack Apgar and Paul McLaughlin had a 60 to finish second in Net, and Marco and Rey Ruidiaz were third with a 71.

In the Ladies Net Division,  Kathy Gaff and Gail Tillotson shot a 7-under 65 net. Marci Charland and Judiann Delan won a scorecard playoff for second after a 68, and Marianne Meola and Mourine White were third.

The next event is Saturday, Aug. 26 at Raptor Bay at 8:30 a.m. Teams plays six holes of scramble, six holes of modified alternate shot, and six holes of best ball, following the QBE Shootout format.

Florida State Junior Match Play: In the Girls 13-15s event, Bonita Springs' Kim Egozi won her first match, 1-up, and second match, 2 and 1 before falling in the semifinals, 3 and 2, to Chloe Schiavone of Jacksonville.

Both Naples' Chad Tracy and Fort Myers' Jonah Manning lost their first-round matches in the 32-player event last week in the Boys 16-18 event.

In the Boys 13-15s, Naples' Micheal Hauer and James Tureskis both
lost in the first round -- Hauer lost 3 and 2, and Tureskis fell 4 and 2.

SFPGA Junior Challenge Tour: Naples' Joey Burke tied for second in the Boys 13-18 Division, shooting a 72 at Fort Lauderdale Country Club.

SFPGA Prep Tour: Cape Coral's Gregory Moore won the Boys 13-18 Division at Abacoa Golf Club on July 18. Moore had  39. Mason Dozer of Estero shot a 51.

Annika Kohoutkova of Naples finished third in the Girls 9-10s with a 41.

Junior Golf Performance Academy: At Quail Creek Country Club. Openings for five additional campers for July 31-Aug. 4 junior camp (ages 5-15); Half Day, 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, $250, or Full Day, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, $500;

The JGPA is also taking reservations for its After-School group coaching program. 56 of 72 juniors are confirmed, with 16 spots remaining for mid-August to mid-May Program. Monthly plans range from $150 to $225.

Weekly 60- and 90-minute group sessions are held on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday beginning at 3:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., for ages 5-18.

SFPGA Section Junior-Senior Championship: David Kent of Renaissance and Chris Kaufman tied for second with a 63 Monday at Hunters' Run in Boynton Beach.

Sean Balliet and Dennis Meyer tied for fourth with a 68. Michael Spetsios and Steve Waugh shot a 66 to tie for eighth.

Alan Morin and Brian Peaper shot a 61 to win. Hideout's Justin Bertsch and Pelican Bay's Gene Fieger, two-time defending champions, tied for 17th with a 68.

Southwest Chapter Seniors: Gene Fieger of Pelican Bay and Dan Heaslip of Windstar tied for first place with 37 points in the Stableford event at Kelly Greens Golf & Country Club on Thursday.

Peter Mogg of Grey Oaks Country Club finished third with 36 points, while Tim Miller of Wyndemere was fourth with 35. Mike Dopslaff of San Carlos and Nevin Sutcliffe of Majestic tied for fifth with 34, while John Calabria of Grey Oaks and Dennis Meyer of Dennis Meyer's Golf School both had 33.
