Orora Visual LLC, which recently acquired commercial printer The Garvey Group, says it won't be able to offer jobs at its Niles, Ill., operation to all employees at the Milwaukee and Franklin plants it is closing.

The company said its original intent was to close all three of its Wisconsin locations by June 1 — a site in Sturtevant already has closed — and offer all employees work at the suburban Chicago location. But in a letter to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, Orora said even though the Franklin and Milwaukee locations now won't cease operation until July 31, the company no longer will be able to offer all employees a transfer to Niles.

Because of the loss of a major customer and other reasons, Orora said, it will be able to offer jobs in Niles to only some of the Wisconsin workers.

The Franklin location has 39 employees, while the Milwaukee site has 15, the company said. The Sturtevant location had 12.
