Good week for export inspections

The USDA reports corn, soybean, and wheat export inspections as of the week ending July 20th remain ahead of what’s needed to meet projections for the respective marketing years.

Wheat came out at 451,665 tons, down 141,663 from the week ending July 13th and 137,344 lower than the week ending July 21st, 2016. A little more than a month and a half into the 2017/18 marketing year, wheat inspections are 4,387,947 tons, compared to 3,693,264 early in 2016/17.

Corn was reported at 935,262 tons, 187,590 less than the previous week and 384,069 below this time last year. With less than two months left in the 2016/17 marketing year, corn inspections are 51,810,524 tons, compared to 39,067,047 late in 2015/16.

Soybeans were pegged at 596,920 tons, an increase of 298,848 from the week before, but a decrease of 123,653 from a year ago. So far this marketing year, soybean inspections are 53,892,797 tons, compared to 46,133,619 last year.

Sorghum inspections totaled 106,940 tons. That’s a jump of 45,622 tons on the week, but a decline of 72,924 on the year. 2016/17 sorghum inspections are 5,305,244 tons, compared to 7,946,793 in 2015/16.
