Marriott Autograph Collection adds London and Edinburgh

Autograph Collection is Marriott’s brand for independent and boutique hotels who pay to be part of Marriott’s branding and marketing system. Three new members in the UK are now part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection with two hotels open in London and a third hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland  scheduled for June 2013 entry into Autograph Collection and Marriott’s reservations system.

  • St. Ermin’s Hotel,  Westminster, London. Category 8 hotel at 40,000 points. June 2013 rates  196 GBP.
  • Threadneedles, City of London Category 8 hotel at 40,000 points. July 2013 rates 302 GBP.
  • Glasshouse Hotel, Edinburgh, Scotland.

St. Ermin’s Hotel in London is a historic Victorian building.

The hotel gets great reviews on TripAdvisor.com with 4.5 of 5 after nearly 1,600 reviews. The hotel is ranked #25 of 1,080 hotels on TripAdvisor.com today. There are 331 hotel rooms.

The St. Ermin’s hotel building is noted for having been the site where Winston Churchill established the Special Operations Executive (SOE) in WWII as Britain’s intelligence community.  The area is the same London Westminster neighborhood as the Palace of Westminster Parliament building and  St. James’s Park tube station and InterContinental Westminster hotel.

Threadneedles, City of London.

Threadneedles is a boutique hotel with 74 rooms and much smaller than St. Ermin’s. The historical building was formerly the offices of London, Midland and City Bank. The hotel is opposite the Bank of England on Threadneedle Street.

The building was converted into a hotel at a cost of 21 million GBP. Threadneedles was the first luxury hotel to open within the Square Mile of the City of London. The stained glass dome in the lobby dates to 1856.

Threadneedles Hotel also rates 4.5 of 5 on TripAdvisor.com with 466 reviews. The hotel is ranked #66 of 1,080 London hotels.

Glasshouse Hotel, Edinburgh

Glasshouse Hotel is another 5-star boutique hotel near Calton Hill (UNESCO Heritage Site) in Edinburgh with 74 rooms. Rates range from 165 – 250 GBP for dates over next three months.

The Glasshouse gets 4 of 5 rating on TripAdvisor with 881 reviews and is ranked #55 of 143 hotels in Edinburgh.

The Glasshouse is not currently in Marriott Rewards reservation system.
