Investigators say the fatal fire on S. 28th St. near W. Becher St. that likely killed Robert A. Piotrowski was arson.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the death of a 70-year-old man found tied up inside a burning home on Milwaukee's south side, police said.

Robert A. Piotrowski was discovered in the early hours of July 3 inside a duplex on S. 28th St. near W. Becher St.

Authorities said immediately they were treating his death as a homicide and confirmed this week that it was homicide.

Piotrowski was found with "several physical injuries" and was "bound," or tied up, inside the home, a police spokesman said. No further information was released.

Two men, ages 22 and 24, and a 23-year-old woman were arrested and will be referred to prosecutors, police said.

The fire, which police described as arson, was reported about 2:20 a.m. July 3.

A service for Piotrowski took place Friday and his family has requested memorials to Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin or the Wisconsin Humane Society, according to his obituary.
