BACKWATER

Large fishing boat going out for a sunset cruise in Destin, Florida

Intermittent storms daily disrupt action. Impacts water clarity / salinity levels. Generally unsettled conditions. Tides to new moon early week drive 4’+ PM ebb range. Winds placid except in storms. Water temp 86-88. Shallow flats 89-91. Snook stay active in the heated conditions; with early AM high tide good shot at working Carlos and New channel edges / pilchards into current points. Major action is on sharks / showing most everywhere and most all species. On live bait (jacks / lady fish) worked in channels and cuts. Good action on some sizeable sharks. Mid-bay circa Mound Key action good on spec trout working shrimp under popper on drift. Sustained action on most all shorelines for nice size mangrove snapper. Look for good current / downed fauna and shaded shorelines. / all on shrimp.

NEARSHORE

Snook continue to work the beaches Big Hickory to Lovers Key north. In 10’ just off surf line jumping on pin fish / threads.

Good action lane / mangrove snapper east edges MAY reef on tipped weighted jigs under chum.

OFFSHORE

Keep an eye on forecast ; sudden storms an issue. Mega sharks deep frequenting bait laden wrecks / reefs. Major tackle and caution working fresh cut baits on wire under chum on structure.
